Kane Hodder, Joel David Moore, Deon Richmond
Dir: Adam Green
Friends Ben and Marcus (Joel Moore and Deon Richmond, respectively) find themselves caught up in the worst tour ride ever-- along with a Midwestern couple, an aspiring porn director and his two starlets and a sullen local with a chip on her shoulder. And to make things worse, the tour guide is about as new to the area as the group! It isn't until after they've gotten lost that they learn the story of Viktor Crowley...
This horror-comedy is quite possibly one of the best movies I've seen in the past few years. Mixing great over the top gore with fantastic dialogue, I was surprised I hadn't seen this sooner. Toss in some nice cameos from a couple of my favorite horror legends (Tony Todd and Robert Englund FTW!) and a few breasts for good measure and you can't go wrong!
Damn...this shit is whack.
One of my favorite things about the movie was the special effects (sFX). I've never been a big fan of constant CG (or more so blatantly bad CG) and Hatchet definitely felt like an homage to good times. I'm especially eager to see more films directed by Adam Green. The way the movie played out felt perfect for the genre, great comic relief, great sFX and I especially loved the characters. The only problem I had with the movie was...well...I really can't think of anything that glared at me as a real problem. I'd urge anyone with a love of campy horror movies to check this one out.
Here's a few of my favorite scenes from the movie:
Yeah, this isn't gonna end well...
...neither is this.
I'm a little busy here...
And on that note, I'll just end with this.
